Done following an on-site sketch at SDWS Paint-Out during Cuyamaca College Water Conservation Gardens event. Titled "Tower of Jewels" after the plant in upper right, with reference to the shimmering rocks in the stream bed beside it. Instead of using blue for the water, I chose to bring the heat of the 100 degree day through strong Earth colors...

I stood painting nearly seven hours in full sun and had many interesting conversations with event guest throughout the day! Of course, most thought I was a little off subjecting myself to the heat, but it was rewarded by the SDWS Judge, so who's complaining?
